Flea Products For Your Pets

The doctors and staff at Cedar Bluff Animal Clinic strive to consistently deliver the highest quality veterinary care specific to the needs of our patients and clients in a compassionate and informed way. We are committed to constantly pursuing innovative ways to improve the quality of our products and services in order that pets may live long, healthy lives.

Every day, the veterinary field is presented with ‘new and better’ products to help us combat fleas, ticks, heartworms and other parasites common to pets. In an effort to provide the best products to you and your pets, as well as to keep our costs at a minimum (and subsequently yours as well), we will no longer be stocking the following flea control products: Advantage, K9 Advantix, and Frontline Plus for Dogs.

These discontinued products will still be available for you to purchase from our online store. Please sign up for your Pet Portal (if you haven’t done so already) here on our home page to access the online store.

Alternatively, we will be stocking: Trifexis, Revolution for Cats, Frontline Plus for Cats, Activyl for dogs and Activyl Tick Plus for dogs.

Activyl is a brand new product in the fight against fleas available exclusively through veterinarians. Applied topically, like Advantage or Frontline, Activyl has a few features that set it apart from these products.  Activyl uses bio-activation to kill fleas. This means it is completely safe for both pets and people.

The chemical that kills the fleas is not activated until it is inside the body of the flea, but not people or their pets. Activyl is also quick to dry, minutes instead of hours like most topical products currently on the market. Studies also show that regular bathing and swimming does not decrease its effectiveness. Activyl Plus has permethrin added to it to kill ticks and is for use on dogs only. Both Activyl and Activyl Plus are available to purchase in single dose quantities.

Whichever product you choose for your pet, please remember that for flea control to be truly effective, it must be administered monthly for at least 3 months, ideally year round, to every pet in your household.  In cases of heavy infestation, your pet’s environment must also be treated. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our office at any time.
